Fair Use
The moment I heard about the umbrella insurance, a story about a student came to mind. I was subing in a kindergarten classroom when one of the students stayed outside on the swings. This kid was moving back and forth as if he didn't have a care in this world. All I could do was wonder what could have happened if I hadn't reacted quickly! I could have been sued, someone could have taken the child. Crazy thoughts of loosing that kid ran through my mind that day. For me learning of umbrella insurance surely gave me hope. Teaching does have perks!!!

Great story!
ReplyDeleteI worked at a daycare in college and one of the teachers left a child with special needs at the park! The center director sent someone back to to the park and immediately called the parents.
ReplyDeleteLuckily the child was found right away and was just fine. And the parents were understanding and didn't press charges.
Always count heads on the bus!!
Wow, Deb - it's fortunate you reacted so quickly! Indeed, one of the worst feelings as a teacher is when you have "misplaced" a child! It sets off a frenzied flurry of activity to locate that child... once you know a child is missing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a scary thought! I once lost a kid babysitting (she was hiding in my unlocked car). It was terrifying, so I can understand how you feel.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great anecdote! That's such a scary thing! I had never heard of umbrella insurance before last class. It's definitely something I'll want to get. You can never be too careful!
